Why does iPhoto have a Trash of its own? Wasn’t one of the arguments for putting the Trash in the Dock that other applications could use it for deleting items? Given that you are manipulating local files (which is not always the case with e-mail), it would make sense to use the Dock’s Trash. A dialog for choosing between just removing a file from your Photo Library or actually moving it to the Trash (as found in iTunes) would probably be needed.

Using Command-Delete while viewing a picture in the iPhoto Trash will place it back in your Photo Library. A keystroke with modal behavior doesn’t seem like a good idea to me, performing one task while viewing the Library or Albums, but a different one while viewing the Trash. Using the Edit menu’s Undo (Command-Z) to restore it to the Library and disabling the Command-Delete keystroke while viewing the Trash makes more sense. This minor issue would disappear if iPhoto used the Dock Trash.

I don’t understand the existence of the toolbar controls at all, much less in their incorrect place under the Window menu. iPhoto does not have a customizable toolbar of the sort found in so many other applications - why were these menu items included at all?

Given the differing number of photos in albums, the Photo Library, and (possibly) the Trash, I’d like to be able to set different thumbnail sizes for each one. I assume this will come eventually.
