I’m simultaneously unsurprised and shocked by Bush’s support of constitutionally codified discrimination. Why is the relationship between two people who love each other anyone else’s business? Why are they lesser people because of their gender?

My parents are friends with a gay couple who have been together for years - far longer than many heterosexual marriages last. Why can’t they formalize their relationship and enjoy all the benefits of doing so?

If one of them had a vagina, would that make it okay for them to marry?
