OmniWeb 5b2, Part 2
February 26th, 2004
A few more observations.
- Resurrect the ??C “Next Unread Page” feature! I loved that! I could skim through updated pages using just the keyboard! Given how the bookmarks are arranged now, this would be particularly useful; it is easy to find updated bookmarks in the toolbar, but rather more difficult to search the various collections to find the rest.
- An option (a checkbox beneath the existing preference) to warn users when they click the close widget on a window with multiple tabs while the drawer is closed. Opening the drawer when the confirmation dialog appears to allow for a quick visual review of the open tabs seems logical. The dialog might also provide a checkbox to allow users to prevent it from appearing in the future. I know the dot in the close widget currently indicates that there is more than one page open in the window, but the dot is usually used as a way to indicate that a document has unsaved changes. For a while, I thought the dot appeared when I hadn’t saved a window’s size. Maybe I’m just crazy.
- Consider remapping the Show/Hide Tab Drawer key combo to ??T and implementing the Apple-recommended (but usually ignored!) ??T for toggling the visibility of the main toolbar.
