  1. There are some applications (synergy among others) that do the same kind of thing. Several of them allow you to change the rating and show the artwork for the currently playing song.
    I agreee though that it would be nice if Apple implemented it directly in iTunes.

  2. Very nice! The UI would ideally have a thick solid border around it to compensate for the noise of the visualizer.

  3. I am quite a fan of the dingbats. :-) The Eject symbol in the mock-up is a dingbat, in fact. I couldn’t find a graphic, so I used the dingbat I remembered seeing in the character palette.

  4. Apple refers to those sorts of interfaces as bezels (the volume control, brightness, etc. are referred to as bezel services).
