Why WordPress?
The primary reason is that I got tired of rebuilding my MovableType site after I made any changes to a template or deleted spam comments. With WordPress, once I make a change to a file or delete something, it is done. No rebuilding.
I was originally planning on waiting until I tried out MovableType 3.0 to decide whether I wanted to stay with Six Apart’s system or not, but I simply got tired of waiting. I am confident MT3 will be a solid product, but I wanted to fix my problems now.
I didn’t really look into any other publishing packages, which may ultimately come back to haunt me. I’d heard of pMachine’s Expression Engine, but it is a commercial product with a minimum price tag of $150, so it was not really a candidate for me.
The links directly to my old MovableType entries are working, but without their stylesheet.
