While dragging files in a Finder window, pressing a letter or number key should jump to the first occurrence of that letter or number in that window. This would make it much easier to move files to sub-folders in long lists and highly populous windows.

  1. I thought the Finder behaves like this with column view enabled? I only use column view, so I’m not sure if it would work with the other views (I suppose I could try now). But I’m SURE I’ve had that feature work in column view…

  2. Oh, woops - you said “when dragging files.” I overlooked that. So, you mean when “copying or moving” files. I was referring to just “navigating in the finder.” Now I see your point. Good point.

  3. You’re absolutely right, I’ve gone to do this a number of times, it’s sorely missed.

  5. I do indeed. I don’t know how effective it is given the probable signal to noise ratio, but it doesn’t take long to do.
