The Price of Security
When John Kerry pointed out that we haven’t substantially improved port security in the U.S., Bush shot back with I don’t think we want to get to how he’s going to pay for all these promises. It’s like a huge tax gap.
What is more important - tax cuts (designed to help those who need it the least) or securing international shipping so that we could substantially decrease the odds that a loose nuclear weapon could be smuggled into the country? Which is a higher priority for Mr. Bush? He always claims he is going to do whatever it takes to improve domestic security, but his funding decisions don’t match his rhetoric.
