Keyword Input

I just shoved the MacJournal keyword interface into the Info window:

Inputting Keywords in the Finder’s Info Window

Displaying Keywords

  1. Icon View
  2. List View
  3. Column View

The problem is displaying folder keywords in Column view. Any ideas?

Implementation Notes

  1. As in MacJournal, keywords could be auto-completed.
  2. Command-Return would create a new keyword while the editing area had focus.
  3. The display of keywords could be toggled in the View Options.
  4. Keywords would be added as a search scope limitation in the Finder’s searching facilities and could be used as criteria for Smart Folders (coming with 10.4).
  5. Application developers could assign their own keywords, but the user could alter them to best suit their use of an application.

One Response to “Finder Keywords”

  1. [...] I posted mockups showing how keywords could be displayed in the Finder a while ago. [...]
