  1. Pressing Control-Shift-` should cycle through the Inspector panels in the opposite direction. Not a must given the relatively small number of sections, but it would be useful.
  2. I suggest using “Grid Lines” rather than “Visibility” in the Inspector’s background Grid tab.
  3. Input fields such as those that control object dimensions and rotation should not allow non-numeric input.
  4. The application should not attempt to auto-save read-only files.
  5. You should point out in the Feature Tour that text in Curio can be manipulated using the standard Mac OS X font panel, which provides a number of effects not available in Curio’s Inspector.
  6. I’d love to be able to use the fabric and paper textures (or any arbitrary image, really) as backgrounds for figures. Now that the background setting is a drop-down, you could add an “Image” option that would then reveal the same selector displayed in the Inspector when the Idea Space’s background has focus.

Idea Spaces as Objects

Idea Spaces could be handled the way OmniWeb 5 treats tabs; more like objects.

  • A “Move Selected Idea Spaces to New Document” command in the Organizer & and contextual menus would be of use; I use a Curio file as a scratch pad for random ideas, only some of which develop into concepts deserving their own document. Sure you can cut and paste all of an Idea Space’s content, but that requires the following steps:
    1. Select and cut the content.
    2. Open or switch to an empty Curio document.
    3. Paste the previously cut content into the empty document.
    4. Return to the original Curio document and delete the now empty Idea Space.
  • Drag-and-drop of Idea Spaces from one Curio document to another would also be useful. Idea Spaces dragged between documents to which the user had read and write permissions would result in the Idea Space being moved by default; holding Option would copy. For Idea Spaces dragged from read-only files, the Idea Space would be copied. For Idea Spaces the user attempted to drag into a read-only document, the circle/slash “operation not allowed” cursor would be displayed.
