Now that there is a file metadata index, it would make sense to expose more of that metadata through the Finder’s List view, furthering the journey down the “iTunes for Files” path.

Although I used only PDFs in the mockup, several other common document types can carry Title, Author, and Keyword metadata: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Apple iWork (Keynote and Pages), Rich Text (in TextEdit: File menu -> Show Properties), and HTML (through meta tags).

Windows 6.0 will feature a more flexible List (or Details, in Windows parlance) view.
